Hillside Fire Auxiliary

The Hillside Fire Auxiliary was formed after World War II and was part of Hillside Civil Defense. The Fire Auxiliary is staffed by dedicated volunteers who provide services to the community during times of need. They also support the Fire Department during emergencies and community events.

Glen Zehner is the Chief of the Fire Auxiliary. Glen has been Chief for more than 25+ years. The Fire Auxiliary currently has 10 active members. Their apparatus includes: a 1979 Dodge Pierce mini-pumper, 1967 Hahn 1250 gpm pumper, and a 1927 American LaFrance Type 75 1000 gpm pumper.

The Hillside Fire Auxiliary firehouse is one of the oldest buildings in Hillside. The firehouse was one of the original fire stations for Hillside’s career Fire Department. It has been recently refurbished.
